Frozen Clay Part II

Posted by

Here's a recent customer question:

If my clay is dry, will freezing it cause any problems like if I store it in a non-heated building?

Good question. The answer is no, freezing will not cause any problems to your dry clay. Whether your material is dry clay, dry glaze or any dry chemicals that are often used in the ceramic process they will be unaffected by freezing.

From the previous post Frozen Clay?, we learned that the cause of problems from freezing came from the water content in wet clay. With dry materials we don't have to worry about that. To save studio space, store your extra dry materials outside (as long as the remain dry)!

Thanks for your great question. If you have any technical questions, you can ask us on our Facebook page or by email.
